Poetry
I started writing poetry at a very young age. At the age of 11, one of my teachers entered a poetry piece of mine into a contest and my work was published in a book. Ever since then, I have been writing poetry off and on.
Why do I Write?
I write poetry to express my emotions when I feel like regular words aren't doing the job. My best pieces are about emotion, whether it is an actual situation that happened or the personification of a feeling. Poetry has always been there when I need it.
You're My Rainbow
You're my rainbow is a poem about the feeling of being in love. It goes through primary colors, then secondary colors, then the nature equivalent of the feeling of connection.

Rock Bottom
Rock Bottom is a poem about knowing when I hit my lowest point. The poem follows a pattern until the last stanza. In the last stanza, I start with the beginning of the pattern, then cut the sentence in half twice. That choice is a symbol of how I felt like half a person.
